We bought Selma when our Anna had bad hips so we couldn´t use her for breeding. Mostly because we wanted a bitchline different than our own so that we could mate her with our own bred males. And our small Selma was a princess, very beautiful and with a fantastic temperament. She was never scared of anything. We fetched her in Norway when she was 8 weeks old and when we came home with her the first one she “attacked” was our kennelmaid´s black russian terrier who all our other dogs had had to see for a while before they approved on him. A very big dog ( 70 kg ). But it didn´t bother Selma and those two became best friends. When Selma came it was over 1 meter of snow everywhere, but this didn´t stop her either. She threw herself around in the snow, often she was completely gone, but suddenly we saw a brown piece of ice jumping up over the snow only to disappear fastly again. She had a spirit I have rarely seen in any other dog and we were looking very much forward to follow her development and make her part of our breeding. Unfortunately this was not ment to be. In the spring 2005 our lapinkoiras had opened a gate and had run to the forrest. I heard them bark and went out to call them home. Selma had run out with them, but had been punished for her obedience – she never ran away. She had been sitting just outside the house and was hit by a car. I called the vet, but Selma died in my arms before he got there. This is without any doubt the worst I have ever tried in my years with dogs, and I have never before in my life felt so guilty. I hope Selma has forgiven me, we often think about her and miss her a lot. She was very loved in the much too short time she lived.
